Commemorative Services at Mildenhall and West Row

Wreaths were laid during the Commemorative Services at Mildenhall and West Row War Memorials on 10th and 11th November. These moving ceremonies were organised by the local branch of the Royal British Legion, with help from volunteers and the Mildenhall parish office.

The Suffolk Royal British Legion commemoration of the centenary of the 1918 Armistice

The Suffolk Royal British Legion commemoration of the centenary of the 1918 Armistice was well represented in Mildenhall yesterday at 11 o'clock. Communities visited 248 cemeteries in the county that contain war graves from the Great War of 1914-1918. Year 6 Children representing St. Mary's (CofE) Academy placed a special commemorative marker on the grave of Ernest William Williams at the Kingway Cemetery. Attended by Helen Gower (RBL - Mildenhall Branch Secretary), MPC Chairman Cllr. Ruth Bowman, Cllr. Richard Alecock, Mrs. Marsh, Mrs. Cash and children representing the school. Poems, commemoration and a pause for thought took place for Ernest William Williams of Mildenhall and the 1,332 graves across Suffolk. A county-wide collective act of remembrance.

Mildenhall Parish Council unveils three commemorative benches

Mildenhall Parish Council are proud to unveil three beautiful remembrance benches in support of the very special commemoration of the end of the First World War where so many made the ultimate sacrifice.
The benches are sited opposite the bus station in Mildenhall and at the War memorial in West Row.
We hope that they will be well used and offer a lasting mark of remembrance.
